Customer Statement About the Installation

The previous belt scale involved a high installation effort, was not always easy to operate and had to be readjusted regularly after the mobile crusher was moved. With the optical laser measuring system from Lasertronik, the installation could be carried out directly on site by ourselves.

Installation of the Lasertronik measuring system on a mobile crusher

The Initial Situation

We previously had a belt scale installed on our mobile crusher, but we were never fully satisfied with it. The installation was time-consuming and expensive. First, the machine had to be transported to the workshop.

After that, an entire roller section had to be removed from the discharge conveyor in order to install the belt scale. Operation was also not particularly simple. We repeatedly had to consult the operating manual to make settings or adjustments correctly.

Installation in a Short Time – Without Complex Modification

The setup on the machine was completed within 25 minutes. The device was automatically tared within one minute and the measurements could begin. As a result, installation and travel costs were saved.

The Problem With the Previous Belt Scale

In operation, the belt scale initially delivered an acceptable accuracy of around 5%. However, as soon as we positioned the crusher at another location, the values became unreliable.

Readjustment improved the situation somewhat, but having to readjust the system after every relocation of the machine is not practical in daily operation. That was exactly why we decided to use an optical laser measuring system from Lasertronik.

The Installation in Practice

We were told that the installation was very simple and that we could carry it out ourselves. This would save us installation and travel costs. At first, we could hardly believe it.

To our surprise, we were actually able to carry out the installation ourselves. The setup was very simple. The device was automatically tared within one minute and the measurements could begin.

The conveyed bulk material was checked and compared with the values from the measuring system. In several measurements, the deviation was between 0.3 and 0.6%.

The next day, we had rainy weather and repeated the same steps. The accuracy of the measurement results remained the same. And that was exactly what we wanted.

The Decisive Improvement

The main problem with the previous belt scale was that it repeatedly had to be readjusted whenever the machine was moved. In addition, the data was not always reliable. With the optical measuring solution from Lasertronik, this effort was significantly reduced and measurement reliability in daily operation was improved.

Installation on the Crushing, Screening or Shredding Plant

The frame is mounted on the respective conveyor belt. It is important that the measuring unit is positioned so that the laser hits the belt at a point where the belt cannot lift. In most cases, this is the area around the center of the drive drum axis.

The mounting height is typically around 50 cm. The exact position depends on the machine type, the belt geometry and the available installation space.

  1. Install the speed sensor.
  2. Mount the frame for the measuring unit.
  3. Mount the frame for the evaluation unit.
  4. Connect the measuring unit and the evaluation unit with the connection cable.
  5. Connect the evaluation unit to the power supply.
  6. Connect the measuring system so that it switches on together with the crushing plant.
